Rachel’s Experience

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of professional experience in the mental health field. I obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Tennessee. My clinical experience includes work with trauma, substance abuse, relationship issues, mental health disorders, and life transitions (including incarcerations and re-entry). My interests include working with adults facing obstacles within current relationships or patterns of unhealthy relationships including codependency, emotional abuse, history of trauma, partners with addictions, and problems with attachment. I also enjoy working with those that are facing life transitions or those feeling “stuck” in their current situation.

My Approach & Values

Identifying the root cause of a problem can help us find long-term solutions. Whether this is figuring out the unmet needs that a substance or another person might be fulfilling for oneself or having a tendency to self-sabotage when things are going well. My goal is to help guide my clients as they turn inwards and explore how they can begin making changes to improve not only their relationship with others but their most important relationship; the one with themselves. We can accomplish this by identifying and implementing healthy boundaries, safe coping skills, effective communication skills, and improving emotional regulation skills. I utilize a person-centered approach, meaning I will individualize my sessions to ensure that I am helping each one of my clients reach his/her personal goals. I utilize evidence-based interventions from a variety of therapeutic modalities including EMDR, CBT, DBT, EFT, IFS, and the Gottman Institute.
